Rom for the one of the best phone of it's time Xperia™ U

  The above phone is from nxt series of Sony Xperia™ Smartphone. It is very low end device but though it has good graphics chip so you can play good amount of games, But the main problem is it's rom, and that is our today's topic there are many roms for this device what to choose.

If you want just good look and stock experience then we would suggest you stock rom gingerbread 2.3.7. It is good fast, reliable and pretty good sony flavour.

Now if you are looking for some custom roms then lollipop is also available for xperia u but it's in developing phase so then you may try Kitkat it works pretty well.

Installation Guide

1. First extract boot.img file from the rom, copy the rom to your phone's sd card (internal storage)

2. Flash it using fastboot with flashtool

3. Now, reboot to TWRP recovery 

4. Wipe dalvik cache, wipe data and wipe cache

5. Now, Flash the zip.

In order to root the Tab 2, first, you'll need to install the Samsung drivers for the Tab 2 (SCH-I705). You can download them here. Then...

1. Make sure USB Debugging is ON (Settings -> Developer Options -> USB Debugging checked) and Unknown Sources is ON.
2. Download the Android SDK and familiarize yourself with the ADB(Android Debug Bridge).
3. Download the DebugFS Tool here.
4. Plug your device in via USB.
5. Double-click on 'RootDebugfs.bat' and follow directions EXACTLY.
6. Enjoy your rooted Verizon Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0)

HOW TO UNLOCK BOOTLOADER IN SAMSUNG GALAXY TAB 2 (7.0) 4G LTE's

To unlock the bootloader for this tablet, make sure to root using the quick instructions above, then...

1. Download this insecure aboot.img to the root of your SD Card.
2. Make sure the MD5 of the above image matches this: f4fbc4c5056f62498b378873bf8e3dca
3. Turn ON USB Debugging. Should have already been done when you rooted! Now.

HOW TO UNLOCK BOOTLOADER OF ANY XPERIA (EXPLAINED THROUGH XPERIA U)

Step 1 Go to this page (from your computer’s browser), which is the Sony Ericsson Xperia U Boot loader page.

Step 2 On the bottom of the page you can find the “Continue” option; click it.

Step 3 Click “Yes” when asked “Are you really sure?”.

On the PC open command prompt (click on Start then type run and cmd).

Step 4 On the phone dial “*#06# “and write down the IMEI code.

Step 5 Use the USB cord for connecting the handset with the computer.

Step 6 In cmd enter the command: fastboot -i 0x0fce getvar version.

Step 7 On the bootloader page enter the IMEI of your Xperia U device and other details such as your email address and name.

Step 8 Go back on the cmd window and enter “fastboot -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0Xkey”.

Step 9 Then, just follow the prompts from the bootloader page.

Done.

What is this?

By unlocking the boot loader, it’s possible to put custom ROMs on your Xperia™ device. However, we recommend standard users not to unlock the boot loader, as it is not needed. We are proud to deliver great software experiences through our rigorously tested and official software releases. If you are not familiar with the risks involved, you should not proceed further.

Voiding the warranty

If you unlock the boot loader, you may void the warranty of your device and/or any warranty from your operator. See your device’s warranty statement for details. Additionally, due to the modified device software, Sony’s repair network will likely have to replace key components before it can properly test, repair and verify your device using our repair tools and software. Consequently, if Sony performs a warranty repair, Sony will likely charge you a significant service fee for the additional costs caused by your modification of the software.

Risks

Please be aware that Sony cannot guarantee the full functionality, and will not be responsible, for any unsigned custom ROM being flashed to your device after the boot loader is unlocked. An unsigned custom ROM may not have gone through the thorough tests that we run for each device and software version that we release.

Also, a custom ROM might not work properly on your device, and certain functions and offerings may cease to work. The performance of the device might also be affected, and you may damage your device permanently. In worst case, unlocking the boot loader will cause physical injuries or material damage, for example, due to the device overheating. 

Certain pre-loaded content on your device may also be inaccessible due to the removal of DRM security keys. For high-end devices running recent software versions, for instance Xperia Z3, the removal of DRM security keys may affect advanced camera functionality. For example, noise reduction algorithms might be removed, and performance when taking photos in low-light conditions might be affected. The secure user data partition may also become inaccessible, and you will not be able to get any more official software upgrades if you unlock the boot loader.

Step 1 Download the first two files given above to your laptop/PC.

Step 2 Turn off your phone

Step 3 Go to download mode (by pressing Vol.down+home+power buttons at the same time for about 7-8 secs)

Step 4 Open the ODIN file you downloaded on your laptop/pc.

Step 5 Connect your phone to your laptop/PC through USB cable

Step 6  When ODIN detects your phone, the ID:COM area will become yellow/blue

Step 7 In ODIN click on PDA and then select the recovery file you downloaded. Also tick the check box beside PDA(if there is any)

Step 8 Click on start. The flashing process will start.

Step 9 If the flashing succeeds, ODIN will show 'PASS'. That means the recovery flashed successfully.

Step 10 Now turn on your phone and download the third file and place it in your external SD card.

Step 11 Turn off your phone.

Step 12 Reboot to recovery(by pressing Vol.up+home+power buttons).

Step 13 The recovery will start. You have to navigate by volume buttons and power button.
Vol.up - move up
Vol.down - move down
Power button - select option

Step 14 Select 'install zip'.

Step 15 Select 'Choose zip from ext_sd or external SD card'.

Step 16 Select the third file you downloaded. Flashing process will start.

Step 17 After it finishes, go back and reboot your phone.

Step 1 Install whatever drivers make you happy and make your device connect (i would suggest Samsung ones).

Step 2 Reboot your device in download mode you can use adb reboot download or the hardware key combo for your device.

Step 3 Load up Odin and uncheck auto-reboot.

Step 4 Click PDA and select the CWM tar you downloaded.

Step 5 Connect your device in download mode.

Step 6 Click start.

Step 7 When its finished disconnect your device, pull the battery out.

Step 8 Reinsert the battery and use the hardware keys for your device to power directly into recovery mode (this will bypass install-recovery.sh if you are stock).

Step 9 Enjoy having a custom recovery.
